Introduction
Trish Stratus vs. Lita was one of the most well known feuds in WWE History and it's one of those feuds like The Rock vs. Triple H or AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels in a way that throughout their careers, their paths seem to cross, either as teammates or as rivals, there is something that attracts the two together. Now around 2000-2006, Trish Stratus and Lita has been the faces of the Divas Division in the WWE and the most recognizable divas in the roster. Granted, the WWE Divas Divison was stacked around that time with Divas like Victoria (Tara in TNA now), Jazz, Molly Holly, Torrie Wilson, Stacy Keibler, etc. But Trish & Lita seem to provide a good mix of beauty and wrestling ability and they always seem to be in the Women's title picture no matter who is the champion at the time.
You think that this feud would lead them to one if not more Wrestlemania matches. The shocking thing is that they never did that. Granted, Trish & Lita were involved in a match at Wrestlemania 17 but they were in a Triple Threat Match against Jazz. I'm talking about a one-on-one match between two of the top names in the WWE Divas Division. But it never did happen but it almost happened at Wrestlemania 21.
The feud was reignited thanks to Lita's Love Triangle with Kane and Matt Hardy during the Summer of 2004. Earlier that year, Trish Stratus, the most popular WWE Diva at the time turned heel at Wrestlemania 20 as she betrayed Chris Jericho and sided with Christian. She would later become the WWE Women's Champion back at Bad Blood in June 2004 winning a Fatal Four Way Match that involved then Champion Victoria, Gail Kim and Lita. The two divas paths crossed once again during Lita's "Wedding" to Kane on an episode of WWE RAW and after Lita had her miscarriage thanks to Gene Snitsky which has then turned Kane face and then both Kane and Lita to joins forces.
Trish and Lita would face off for the Women's Championship at Survivor Series but after months of humiliation Trish put Lita through, Lita was concerned on destroying Trish than becoming Women's Champion which lead to the disqualification loss.
On December 6th, 2004 on WWE Monday Night RAW, the WWE Women's Championship was on the line between Trish Stratus and Lita as the show's main event which is pretty rare that a Women's Championship match would happen on WWE's flagship show. Lita defeated Trish Stratus to become the Champion but in that match, Lita botched a Suicide Dive in where she over rotated by just a fraction and almost suffered a serious injury. It did played a huge role in the hype to their rematch for New Year's Revolution in Puerto Rico on January 9th, 2005. Trish Stratus regained the title from Lita but in that match, Lita tore her ACL in her left knee attempting a Lou Thez Press on the outside.
There were rumors that if Lita wasn't injured, there would've been the rubber match between Trish & Lita at Wrestlemania 21 in a specialty match, most likely a Ladder Match.
So what we were stuck with at Wrestlemania 21 was Trish Stratus vs. Christy Hemme for the WWE Women's Championship with an injured Lita in Christy's corner.
Now I'm going to book the build toward Wrestlemania 21 and the their match at Wrestlemania 21. As well, I'm going to be re-booking the rest of the time in between Survivor Series until Wrestlemania 21 which will include some noticeable differences to hopefully make the shows better.
